Exciting News: Mdzananda Animal Clinic Launches Second Mobile Clinic in Khayelitsha!

We’re thrilled to share some fantastic news from the Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha! Thanks to the generous support of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, we are expanding our services with the launch of a second mobile clinic outreach fleet. This initiative is set to enhance our ability to provide essential veterinary care to communities within Khayelitsha that are currently underserved.

Bringing Care Closer to Home

Many areas in Khayelitsha lack access to basic veterinary services, and our new mobile clinic will be a game-changer. By bringing primary health care directly to these communities, we can ensure that more animals receive the medical attention they need.

“We are overjoyed to be able to make an even further impact in the community thanks to the support by UK animal welfare charity Battersea Dogs and Cats Home,” said Marcelle du Plessis, Fundraising, Communications, and Programmes Executive at Mdzananda Animal Clinic. “This expansion allows us to extend our reach and improve the well-being of even more animals in Khayelitsha.”

What the Mobile Clinics Offer

The primary focus of the mobile clinics will be on providing essential health services, including:

  • Vaccinations

  • Deworming

  • Flea and tick treatments

For animals that are injured or ill, the mobile units will transport them back to our stationary clinic for further treatment, ensuring that no animal is left without care.

“By offering mass preventative care, we are creating healthier and safer futures for individual animals while also fostering a more robust pet community,” du Plessis added.

Education: A Key Component

Accompanying the mobile fleet is an education officer who will provide one-on-one sessions for pet owners. These sessions will cover crucial topics such as:

  • The specific needs of their pets

  • The five freedoms of animal welfare

  • The importance of sterilization

“We wish to thank Battersea for partnering with us to make this enormous difference in Khayelitsha,” concluded du Plessis.
