adopt | foster
Our organisation is predominantly a veterinary clinic and our shelter unit is small and can only house 40 dogs and 20 cats at a time. When our shelter is full we cannot take more pets in and we direct people to other welfare organisations. Placing pets in foster homes allows us to have space available at our shelter facility to help more abandoned pets.
Why pay an adoption fee?
An adoption fee of R750 is applicable for dogs and cats. There are many costs involved in looking after an abandoned pet before finding him/her a new home. On average animals stay with us for 2 months before a new home is found. In the first month alone, our cost per pet is R2280. Most animals stay much longer. Some even for over a year. Your adoption fee goes towards covering some of these costs.
First month's costs
Sterilisation – R650
1st Vaccination – R85
1st Dewormer – R35
1st Flea and tick treatment – R50
